A temp cert is just as labour intensive as an FAC/SGC. If they could issue one of these in time, they'd have the facility to issue your certificates.

Your renewal has been approved, you're just waiting for the paper. I wouldn't sweat it.
demand the section 7 they are not the ones who will be unable to produce the FAC if required to! the amount of work involved for them is irrelevant.

I tried phoning earlier but the chap I needed to speak to was out on his rounds.

I've emailed the details to the local firearm dept. just in case I don't get phoned back. This is probably better anyhow as I will have timestamped documented proof that I've been chasing it up if I don't hear anything in the next few days. I've also asked how I get a section 7 as per their website:

"If your renewal application is unfortunately delayed by Thames Valley Police we will automatically issue you a section 7 permit prior to the expiry date to cover your continued possession of shot guns/firearms and ammunition."

If I haven't had a reply by close of Monday I shall be writing a letter of complaint to Chief Constable Sara Thornton.

I shall be drawing her attention to the fact that people will expect much improved service if the proposed changes to FAC fees is introduced at higher rates.

Popped into my local gun shop today for some ammunition. I was told they're currently having quite a few people storing their rifles with them at the moment for this very reason.

I can only assume having a current ticket makes a variation a simple formality.
