Another toy in cupboard....

Re: Another toy in cupboard....
I think I need to go through the pile of spare parts and make one of these.
That very high rear sight may take some thinking and machine work, but it could be a new project for me.
I have a 1943 Maltby No 4 receiver with nothing to do right now. Perhaps a nice barrel in .303, that should stir up locals a bit.

I'm sure we could find a rearsight for you over here, if it helps.Burner wrote:I think I need to go through the pile of spare parts and make one of these.

All I can say is Wow! I need to learn more about the position and the rifles. Thanks for sharing.

Is there really a need to mix yoga and shooting?rox wrote:Here's another back gun of military origin:Burner wrote:Interesting! First comp rifle I have ever seen made on a GEW 88 style receiver.
I really need to try "back" shooting some time.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. This position is known as "Supine" and also "Creedmoor"?majordisorder wrote:

Supine is mainly used in the UK for the back position: our American cousins generally use the term Creedmore.Marko wrote:Please correct me if I'm wrong. This position is known as "Supine" and also "Creedmoor"?majordisorder wrote:

That's a very interesting looking rifle, but if I tried to shoot in that position, I'd never get up again!

Which is why I had to sell it....!!!!
An old back injury and a slipped disc has left my lower back vulnerable and adopting the 'supine' position quickly became too painful to bear....so, sadly, it had to go...but it was fun for while.....especially as I really enjoy the 'old school' type of shooting at Bisley.
