This is a sad story all round. As an NRA member and regular shooter at Bisley, I would hope that all our members best interests and the reputation of our organisation would be upheld to the very highest standard. I know the party in question and have the highest regard for her. She is an enthusiastic and positive influence within our community and deserved to be treated with respect. A simple apology and some tactful diplomacy would have gone a long way to defuse this sitation. The matter of compensation could the have been settled fairly and equitably and with all parties uniting to right this wrong. Nuff said.

It would seem, according to the February edition of Gun Mart, that Mr Mercer hadn’t coughed up by the due date back in November. The next step would involve the bailiffs apparently! Really don’t understand what he or the NRA is doing.

Hope it doesn't end up on "Can't Pay? We'll Take it Away!"

I'd hope the NRA have more in its coffers than the £3.5k ish that they owe the person in question! Even my little strawbaler clay shoot could afford that!

I would think so. From the NRA strategic review I posted the other day, they aim to have £200k in the bank at the end of the financial or calendar year (can't remember which it was), so I would imagine they have something approaching that.

Wonder why it's taking so long to get the matter resolved? Is there more to the story?

We may never know the full story. It did strike me that the parts missing were the ones that I would have removed before putting the rifle into the armoury.

Surely the stage of questioning if it actually happened or not has long gone, Its been heard in a court where enough evidence must have been presented to result in a judgement being issued against them, they have then been ordered to pay up within a given time period (or I imagine launch an appeal) neither of which seems to have happened. The only question it raises for me is WTF are they playing at, letting it get to this stage. Surely someone in charge should be for the chop for letting the NRA get dragged through all this s**t and more importantly for allowing the lax security that led to this fiasco in the 1st place
