Howa 1500
Hi All,
Looking to purchase a Howa 1500 in .308 calibre when my variation comes back. The prices look reasonable especially for the package options however I wasn't a fan of the hogue stock which had forend flex, but was impressed with the GRS stock. Now the price point of the hogue is much more agreeable but I know in my heart that I wished I had bought the GRS stock. Now with my financial constraints the question is is the GRS stock worth the extra ~£400?
Any views good or bad on the Howa would be welcome and any tips on potential upgrades that can be done over time.
Cheers.

Looks like you've answered your own question.

Save for a bit longer and buy the GRS stocked version

Shot a GRS stocked Tikka - beautiful
Handled a blued Howa in a black GRS stock - didn't want to put it down. Finally a black gun I liked

Re: Howa 1500
buy a Boyds stock around £130 delivered (once they sort out their website) if you can't wait then you can order in a laminate stock, just costs a bit more.
Re: Howa 1500
I fitted a GRS Sporter/Varmint to a new Sako 85 chambered in .243 a while ago, fit was good out of the box and it certainly looked and felt good as well. The owner asked me to pillar and glass bed the action to the stock however I am not convinced it is absolutely necessary.
Re: Howa 1500
I've got a couple now and really like them, was going to get another for my MOD 16 weather warrior but have opted for the boyds as it is lighter.
Re: Howa 1500
Thanks for all the input thus far!
Is there any noticeable differences between the GRS and Boyds stock (bar the adjustability!) in terms of quality and accuracy?

Re: Howa 1500
Does anyone know who is the cheapest for Howa 1500 in the UK at the moment, considering one myself as a project gun

Re: Howa 1500
I have a 1500 in .223 it was a prize so I won't complain too much. It came with the vogue rubber over moulded stock and it is very flexible. The shock absorbing stocked looked good.
As for the howa packages the rifle, mod, mag kits are great but the scopes they come with are not good enough for the rifles.
