I use a quick change tool post.Probably 16mm not sure I could get it on centre though. I think the maximum I would use for my set up would be a 12mm this would give me a minimum hole size of about 15mm. For this job I drilled the hole out to 13mm. My 6mm and 8mm boring bars had to much flex in them because of the depth of the hole through the centre. I used a borrowed 10mm to bore the hole I could probably of switched to a 12mm but I stuck with the 10mm. My carbide tipped tool holders are 10mm and I have 8mm and 10mm HSS cutters. I started of with 6mm and 8mm tool holders but prefer the 10mm they are much more rigid.
I'm still very much a novice so its all a learning curve. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I enjoy it. I wish I had a mill. I'm working on it but her that must be obeyed thinks the money would be better spent on some thing else. wallhead
