Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
Steve, if they are members of the GTA they should have received details of this change.
Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
I can find nothing publicly on the Home Office/gov.uk website about this, but there's a tiny handful of forum threads and Facebook posts which mention it.
I'd conclude from that that the GTA have told their members something (what's with the lack of quoting here, some kind of secret RFD omerta?) but the Home Office hasn't commented publicly. I'll drop them a line with my work hat on and see if they confirm or deny it.

Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
Just had an email from Northumbria firearms licensing quoting the same HO statement as I put in my OP.
Here is their email address so that previous poster can tell them that are talking "bullsh*t" too.
firearmslicensing@northumbria.pnn.police.uk
BTW I find the idea of journalist purporting to check the veracity of anything hugely amusing.

Why be so insulting when Gaz appears to be offering to help here?dromia wrote: BTW I find the idea of journalist purporting to check the veracity of anything hugely amusing.

He is not helping me, I believe the GTA, he is the one that chooses not to. He is helping himself.

Merry Christmas to you too.dromia wrote:BTW I find the idea of journalist purporting to check the veracity of anything hugely amusing.
I could just be rude back to you but it benefits us all when information affecting firearms law and practice is shared openly - information which you're sitting on. I'm trying to track it down separately from an official source so I can see it for myself rather than go by internet rumours and hearsay, which is all your postings are. It seems despite your hatred of the NRA you've adopted their approach to sharing useful information with the wider shooting world.

Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
I have already told you my source in a previous post, the GTA. I have shared what I have.
Both Durham and Northumbria Firearms licensing departments have today circulated to RFDs in their areas what I posted yesterday. Their source is undoubtedly the Home Office.
It looks to me that it is your dislike of the OP that prompts you to make such a song and dance over this.

Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
Where I cannot see a source for myself (eg from a screenshot of an email or a link) I look to see if I can find the information for myself. I don't trust information posted on forums where the source is several times removed from the person posting it. (viz. Home Office > GTA > you > FBUK)
I find it very odd that the Home Office would effectively decide to ignore an EU directive - big news - and then only tell a small section of the people directly affected (not all RFDs are GTA members, as I understand it) by this change in policy, having gone to the time and effort of ordering RFDs to bear the cost of compliance. If we believe forum posts here and elsewhere, this EU policy also caused a few dealers to stop trading altogether. "Home Office backtracks over business-killing EU directive" would be the tone of headlines I'd expect to see, as well.
So, nothing personal Adam, I just like to confirm the facts for myself when they show that something big has happened and the reaction I'd expect (outbreaks of forum threads, social media posts, even news coverage from the shooting press) isn't there.
Merry Christmas to you and yours. Please drink responsibly.

Re: RFD computerised record keeping.
A good New year to you too Gaz.
Don't worry I won't be sharing any further shooting related news I may get on a forum.
Lesson learned, if the NRA haven't heard about it then in must be lies and bullsh*t
