Ammo Disposal
I've rediscovered a box of old 12g and 9mm blanks in the shed. The 9mm is dirty, possibly beginning to "corrode" and the base of the 12g stuff is corroding nicely!
How best to dispose of it? Will an RFD take it?

Re: Ammo Disposal
Yes a RFD may take it off your hands an alternative is to drop it into the police station. They collect such stuff and dispose of it properly unlike some people who will undoutably suggest throw it in the river of some other unsafe practise.
Re: Ammo Disposal
Head over to Leeds, there's a popular pond in someone's back garden that's good for dumping ammo... ;-) Just don't let the cats get hold of it!
Or follow Chapuis' advice, whatever :-)

Re: Ammo Disposal
police is perfectly legal avenue, but dont be surprised if you soon read in the paper about a haul of deadly ammunition, from my understanding and chatting with a local copper it can also be used towards firearms crime stats
I would always try RFD first

Re: Ammo Disposal
If they're all blanks - why not shoot them off? Hardly a pressure concern given there's no projecticle to push?SevenSixTwo wrote:I've rediscovered a box of old 12g and 9mm blanks in the shed. The 9mm is dirty, possibly beginning to "corrode" and the base of the 12g stuff is corroding nicely!

Clean the gun after and then there's no issues (assuming you still have something that will chamber them?)
Re: Ammo Disposal
If there's no licence required to own blanks and the booking officer on the desk doesn't need you name and address to take in handed in firearms related items, the last thing I would do would be go into a police station waving an FAC/SGC.Blackstuff wrote:Just take it to the police station with your FAC/SGC to cover your back

Especially with a load of ammunition that was 'just found in a shed'.DL. wrote:If there's no licence required to own blanks and the booking officer on the desk doesn't need you name and address to take in handed in firearms related items, the last thing I would do would be go into a police station waving an FAC/SGC.Blackstuff wrote:Just take it to the police station with your FAC/SGC to cover your back

Re: Ammo Disposal
Anyone know the law on shooting blanks out of a real firearm, do you have to be on a range....?
Re: Ammo Disposal
Personally I'd have chucked it in the brazier and had some fun out of it, but that's probably just me...
