I wouldn't necessarily be put off buying a new Marlin.
Speak to Sheila or Roger at Rimfire magic for an honest appraisal.

I have both a newer and older Marlin. Both are better than a Rossi!

I too have marlins, I would take an iffy marlin over a good rossi any day of the week
99% of the line at gallery rifle meets is Marlins, theres good reason for that, reliable, accurate, and with minimal work you have a very slick and sweet action.

I have 2 Rossi's, one s/s 20" hexagonal barrel in .45 Colt and one blued 24" hexagonal barrel in .357.
Both perform well, I have had the stainless rifle for about 15 years with no problems and the only alteration to it, is a Lyman #2 peep sight.
I have to say that I prefer the balance of the 20" hexagonal barrel over the 24" for off hand competitions.

Never owned a Marlin so no I can't, but having said that, I would hazard a guess that my 2 Rossi's perform pretty well for a lot less than the price of a Marlin.Countryman wrote:Ukrifleman can you compare this these to a Marlin?

bfhb, if you haven't yet got sorted have a look at the Chiappa (Armi Sport) 1892 clone. As slick a lever gun as you will get out of the box. And a more accurate copy of the Winchester action than the Rossi, which uses a coil mainspring. I think Edgar Brothers are the current importers.
