Guys,

After saving up for a very long time (still not sure if I have enough yet...), I'm on the hunt for Lee Enfield No.4T. Does anyone know of any RFD's that specialist in these rifles?

Be very careful and do your home work well, there are very few genuine ones about but many copies.

I have no complaint with modern made up no4Ts but only when they are sold as such and not offered at best ambiguously like some No4T building dealers seem to do.

I think you might have a job finding a genuine one. If you do it will be pricey.

Shoot one before you get serious just to make sure you actually like them. For me it was a bit like finally driving an old iconic classic car only to be disappointed with the reality of the experience. You could save 3k and get the same experience with a bitsa Nagant instead, unless you really want it for part of a collection; in which case see the other posters comments above

Not sure if the guy wants to sell it though - he bought two - this one as an investment, not to shoot and another to shoot.

I was looking to buy one a year or so ago. I think you're looking at £3k for one that is mostly OK and £5K for one with provenance and is OK. There's a good thread on here with me as the OP where Blu shocked us all with the amount of information he gave me about the rifle. I suggest have a read, it might be an eye opener. I backed away in the end, I realised I was out of my league. I bought a couple of books and it still wasn't enough for me to be certain and given the price, you need to be.

I owned one for a couple of years complete with original transit case, it shot well and was certainly accurate and I never gelled with it and eventually let it go. My view is I will never buy another one and I would echo the other comments, take a lot of care over what you are buying and even the most reputable of sources can and do make mistakes, sometimes deliberately.

Same goes for KAR98K Snipers, I would NEVER consider buying one as the vast majority are fantasy rifles, even the duffel cut with papers can and will be of debatable heritage, someone once said there were as many built in 1946 as the previous 3 years. I am lucky enough to have shot two truly original issue German Sniper rifles, one shot superbly well and one was hopeless and both were in German hands.

I love mine, it is one of my favourite shooting rifles but then I find the No4 to be one of the most comfortable and easy to shoot rifles ever.
