Putting it in basic terms, Restricted Licensed parts are pressure baring component parts that require proofing, so bolts, carriers, barrels receivers etc.

Then there are gray area parts like firing pins, not proofed, but not a good idea to have them laying about the house either!

A barrel only becomes restricted when a chamber has been cut, prior to that, it's simply a rifled pipe!! (unless that rule has now been changed)??

A barrel can be a barrel without a chamber, if it is threaded or chambered a rifled tube becomes a barrel. Many parts are controlled like the rifle itself, barrelled actions and sound moderators to name just three (these are listed on the FAC) and then there are other controlled parts like bolts, flash hiders, fire control parts, firing pins, etc. that don't get listed on the FAC but you should have one to buy or own these spare parts (I know some forces list spare bolts and you can buy these 'spares' as part of de-acts without any license - just goes to show there doesn't seem to be any joined up gun laws).

Just had two ARU Officers pop round.
Didn't get to see guns, but they were both sporting holsters with a pistol inside.

They did explain that the need for an amnesty in order to hand in unwanted guns is a myth. People hand them in all the time and no one gets arrested.
Most are loft finds.

They took the shotty and I signed a form to say that they had taken it and to say where I got it from.
They weren't interested in my gun safe or anything like that.
