Wouldn't the external diameter of the bullet be larger than the internal diameter of the case?User702 wrote:.455/.308? I'd like to see a pistol made with that.

Think about .44 auto mag which was just a cut down .308 case.
Re: Big bore .308 Win Wildcats
Ovenpaa you have really started something now. Having seen the picture of your dummy rounds I couldn't resist and made up a dummy using a 280 grain cast bullet pushed into a .308w case forming a 9.3x51mm wildcat. The big fat flat nosed bullet with a huge meplat in the dumpy case is just sexy.
I wouldn't know if such a round would offer any real advantage over any existing cartridges such as a 9.3x62 Mauser or even if such a cartridge would be ballistically feasible but it certainly gets my interest.

I've been mulling over the idea of subsonic centrefire rounds for a while - following this with interest

Re: Big bore .308 Win Wildcats
Chapuis, any chance of a picture I would build a couple of dummy rounds for myself however the largest suitable bullets I have are 9mm/.355Chapuis wrote:Ovenpaa you have really started something now. .476 Webley = heeled/stepped bulletChapuis wrote:Wouldn't the external diameter of the bullet be larger than the internal diameter of the case?User702 wrote:.455/.308? I'd like to see a pistol made with that.

.41 Action Express = stepped case
Think .455 Auto MAG & then just work around the problems
