Uniqueness - be it action, operation, calibre, cartridge, age etc
and
Compactness - a carbine will usually spark my interest over a full sized version.

That's about it for me - if it hits the target, bonus! :good:

Interesting! I guess we are all different. For me, first and foremost, it must be in an obsolete calibre on the Home Office list. This means that I don't have to wait for a variation before picking it up, I can solve the "how to load for it" questions and, over a period of time, aquire or make the necessary equipment. Then I can put it on ticket, load experimental rounds and spend an enjoyable time with the chronograph developing and perfecting the load.

We tend to go for old and unusual stuff too: we don't actually have a 21st century rifle yet and most of ours are in their third century. Sandgroper can be a particularly bad influence...
