I managed to get the morning free so got on the 200 yard Short Siberia with the chrono.
Temp 25 deg
Barrel 32" Border 5R 1 in 12 twist
Chrono roughly 2 meters from muzzle
RWS NRA TARGET 155gn
Lowest 2848 fps
Highest 2888 fps
Average 2865 fps
Spread of 40 fps over 10 shots which I think is good for off the shelf ammunition.
Home load 49.5 Viht 550 with 155 SMK
Lowest 2919
Highest 2963
Average 2940
Spread of 44 fps, which is disappointing but A lot better than last years home loads!
And for some fun
.22LR Mini Mag High Velocity
Lowest 1073 fps (first shot)
Highest 1179 fps
Average 1132 fps
Spread of 106 fps
Take away the first shot and the spread is actually 79 fps - not sure if 79 fps is anything to worry about at 30 - 60 yards hunting distances?

All depends what one is aiming at.

Re: Chrono results RWS V's Home load
I Chronoed some HPS Target Master 155's last year, I think they were the machine loaded stuff.
I put 5 rounds down and they were 2800 FPS +-4
My home loads have been averaging 30 fps spread

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!
