Speaking of which I hear Mercer is now banning NRA staff and General Council members from posting on forums like this one. I only hope the Trustees recognise the further distance this would create between the NRA and its members and stand their ground. I for one enjoy reading their comments on a range of topics, most of which aren't overly sensitive but are very much appreciated. He should be encouraging them to mix and engage with shooters, not dictating that they can't.

Hmmm interesting, I did comment a couple of weeks back that we had not seen or heard from Iain Robertson in quite a while. I guess we now know the reason if it's true.Speaking of which I hear Mercer is now banning NRA staff and General Council members from posting on forums like this one. Re: NRA Survey on Handloading
Bloody shame if they have been gagged.
I as an NRA member got far more pertinent, useful and insightful information from the NRA people on here than I ever got from their cursory official communications.

Re: NRA Survey on Handloading
Well only one way to find out, I have emailed Andrew Mercer and asked if he's gagging the staff. BTW I loved this bit on the NRA contact page
Yeah don't these folks know it, the US NRA doesn't gag it's employees. Please fill in the fields below. Note that this is the NRA of Great Britain, not the American NRA.
Re: NRA Survey on Handloading
A lack of posts from known NRA staff will soon become apparent if this is the case

Too true.

We have recently issued a Social Media policy to staff to help ensure that their private comments are not mistaken as formal NRA statements.
Hope this is helpful

Andrew.
So are you saying that your staff are not barred in any way from commenting on shooting forums?

Re: NRA Survey on Handloading
I can understand the head of any shooting organisation asking their staff not to comment on forums - It's a shame as we've had some very useful input on here...
...to be fair, if you consider some of the comments that have been said about the NRA and it's staff on here, it's no wonder they might not want to contribute...not all the criticism has been constructive, and some of it has just been plain unnecessary...
...I thought Mr Mercer's letter in the last Journal wasn't too bad...I didn't agree with everything that was said, but thought the overall tone and direction was quite positive...and it appears he's quite thick skinned; which is good, as he's going to need to be...

Re: NRA Survey on Handloading
Gagging people is never the way forward and it's a stupid thing for Mercer to do. The organisation needs openness to build trust with the non-TR sections of the shooting community, not a bi-monthly email and a wall of silence.
Mind you, I'm not surprised NRA staff aren't bothering to post on here, what with tired old geriatrics constantly blaming them for the cockups of two decades ago as soon as they make it known they're NRA staff.
