That is not what you asked for in the OP.

You clearly said that you wanted "a couple of (nice hot) fox loads", no mention of starting loads to work up from.

You also gave the impression that you are a tyro handloader "i have hand loaded a couple of thousand 44 mag rounds but no rifle as yet."

Therefore you got the replies you did.

Hi all new to the .223 and could do with a couple of nice (hot) fox loads for a tikka 223 super varmint. 1:12 twist.
Bullet ,powder,primer load data and velocity's.i have hand loaded a couple of thousand 44 mag rounds but no rifle as yet.
Also recommended factory ammo to start out with. hoping to get the rifle later this week. :flag5:

Why do some people have to take the p*** !
obviously i want it to be a very accurate load and a safe load !!
all i asked for was some good starting loads and not powder p**f target loads.
i reload several different loads in the 44 mag depending where i am using it.
sometimes a very low power load for a 25 yard indoor club and sometime a very hot load for an outdoor shoot.
so what was wrong in asking for a (hot) load for the 223 for charlie ?
sometimes i feel like a naughty schoolboy on the forum for asking something not a 50+ man !!

Ninja what may be very accurate and safe in my rifle may be neither in yours, every rifle is different even those coming consecutively off the same production line. Data contained in a reloading manual or guide as they are often called is exactly that, a guide. You need to develop a load that suits your rifle, there are no short cuts I'm afraid. So no magic formula that anyone can pass on to you.
Most of the loads that I shoot are relatively conservative as its not always the fastest or more intense round that produces the best results. I also value my guns and equipment and can see no benefit in shortening their life by shooting high pressure high intensity rounds through them constantly.
Think of the old adage of the young bull and the old bull.

Between 2 n 3 grains o bullseye an a 148 grain wad cutter. As you probably know.

Very low power load for cowboy shooting ect and comps.

55 grain nosler ballistic tip with 25 grains of vitn140 powder is a nice combination that has been used in 6 various 223 rifles with no pressure signs and no complaints from the foxes or roe deer (Scotland legal).

I wouldn't call a .44mag gallery/cowboy competition load "Powder p**f", even with only 4.6 grains of TiteGroup I really wouldn't like to be standing in the way of 240 grains of lead traveling at around 900ft/sec!, that's around 432ft/lbf or 585 joules of energy

For .223 at reasonable distances (out to 300m) I use 26gr of Viht N140 and a 55gr bullet, nice smooth load and more than accurate enough.

Radway Green 5.56 ball with bullet pulled & replaced with 50grain V=max; giving approx. 3400 from my 18" barrelled .223.
