Firearms licensing conference

#1 Post by Gaz »

Full credit to SevenSixTwo for spotting this on Twitter.
Join this briefing to gain a full overview and refresher of the Home Office's Firearms Licensing guidance that was updated in June. We will also discuss good practice in firearms licensing procedure covering topics such as eCommerce and digitisation as well as integrating the National Decision Model into everyday working. We are joined by a panel of experts to learn how to build a transparent and efficient service.

The catch? It's £225 to attend...

I've pinged it at the Shooting Times, in the hope they'll send a reporter, and I know others have contacted BASC about it already. It would be absolutely excellent to find out what firearms licensing departments are really up to behind closed doors.

But would you find out? It just looks like a company setting up an event (of less than 4 hours) and charging a fair bit of money for it. It's not with the Home Office or anyone official as far as I can see and it doesn't say who will be there. Who are the panel of experts?

The value of it will depend who signs up for it and what they bring to the party. Might be excellent but might be of little value if not attended by the right people.

Love

The afternoon session will focus on sharing best practice. What is currently being done in the area? How can we evolve and improve our licensing processes?

Who Should Attend?
Firearms licensing departments, police officers, community safety partnerships, sporting clubs and associations, safer neighbourhood teams, youth offending teams, local authorities, voluntary sector, charities, civil servants, emergency services and other stakeholder

And the experts are? Probably that bloke who says he is an expert but isn't along with some ACPO "consultants"! Maybe the whole of GCN?

If "EXPERTS" are on the panel then the questions i- Has ANYONE from all of our shooting bodies been invited - and if not why not?

Well at least you got two of the letters right, all you need to do now is substitute the M & S for a C & N and you've got it :good:

I asked around, and it seems Dods do cater to demand - but their events tend to be cosy chats among people who already know full well what's happening rather than useful or informative - or so my contact tells me.

Still, I hope the BSSC get someone along just in case ...
