Sorry if I did not make myself clear. Its the middle barrel band I want you would not be able to fit the bipod to the front barrel band sling because of the lump of metal that the bayonet attaches to.

That lump of metal would be the bayonet mount

Yes that's why I described it as the lump of metal the bayonet attaches to because its the bayonet mount.

That's it hope it helped and I hope you get fixed up if you do decide to have a go just remember the thickness of the leather spacer is important to take up any play.

I have removed the bipod and put everything back to normal and the rifle is now tucked up in its cabinet with the rest of its buddies.
That looks good, and not out of place on a No4 tongueout

My old man is getting a No4 soon which he wants to shoot from the bench...normally he uses a bag for a rest; but I do have a spare Harris bi-pod.....

I think if it were me I'd look at another bipod, with the recoil from the rifle and given how rigidly the bipod is attached the rifle is going to be jumping all over the place. Maybe a Versa Pod might be more suitable for benchrest

I am working on one for the smle and a improvement on the No4 design. I am having problems with my milling set up at the moment. I need a proper milling machine **** .
I think fitting a versa pod to a No4 or a Smle might be a bit of a challenge.

It's not even up to me...me and my dad share most our rifles, but the No.4 is going to be set up mainly for him...I'll show him Alpha's photo's and it'll be up to him if he wants to try it.

I don't see why as the versa pod uses the sling swivel stud as well. The only thing that might need doing is doubling up on the leather or using thicker leather. I just had a look at a versa
pod and I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Hmmm looking at your setup again and looking at the versa pod adaptor I reckon you'd be okay with the leather you already have.

Didn't say it was up to you. I was just pointing out given the rigidity of the Harris bipod and the recoil of the Enfield rifle I can see the rifle jumping off target with each shot while shooting off the bench and therefore a less rigid bipod may be better.

I say this from experience of shooting off the bench using both the Harris bipod and the versa pod. I have found that the versa pod being more flexible kept the rifle on target a lot better.

This was only a suggestion, I wasn't trying to get into a pi$$ing contest with you.
