Idle question to the custom rifle builders here - Tikka T3

Re: Idle question to the custom rifle builders here - Tikka
Thanks Ovenpaa, I had actually looked very hard at the KRG chassis and I really liked what I saw just assumed it was hard to source in the UK. If it is easy to source then it does rather go up my wish list, what do they retail at? (approximately)
As for barrels, never heard of Hallrite and can't find a website. I suppose the question is whilst I am rather inclined towards a hammer forged barrel (if for anything else because it is common on military/police spec rifles and I find it rather cool) how much would a similar spec cut barrel from say "Border barrel" set me back and what would the life be like in comparison to hammer forged. I rather want a barrel that can have a long life if possible hence my leaning towards hammer forged. Put it this way if there is only a couple of hundred pounds in it then I would stick with Armalon and hammer forged but if it is lets say £400+ cheaper then I would reconsider.
(On a side note the reason I am asking these questions is I have a windfall of money coming soon and I am considering putting some of it towards my ideal custom rifle).

Get in touch with March scopes. They gave me a good price yesterday and their reply was less than 5 minutes. It was much cheaper than going with Jon an CPG design. Also I had a reply from KRG, and the mags I want are the AI 308 ones (durr). The x ray chassis will only allow feeding of small action calibres, I think this is why they state action size for Tikka's despite them all being one action size.Fedaykin wrote:Thanks Ovenpaa, I had actually looked very hard at the KRG chassis and I really liked what I saw just assumed it was hard to source in the UK. Re: Idle question to the custom rifle builders here - Tikka
Hey guys, so I bit the bullet and bout the KRG x-ray chassis for my Tikka T3 varmint. Ordered yesterday from March scopes and arrived today, can't fault them! A big thank you to Gary from March for all the help. Got an AI mag on the way to complete the build. I'm really happy with it so far, very easy to install, instructions were very helpful. Cheek piece is at the lowest position and I'm so small that I luckily didn't need any lop spacers. Feels very nice to shoulder, much nicer recoil pad. A definite improvement over the standard Tikka stock. See attached before and after pic.

Lovely setup! I've recently bought a T3 Tac and have the same thing in mind too :)
Just a query - what is the total length of the 20" T3 in the X-ray chassis? I need a new case and want to make sure I get one long enough for when I get the Tikka re-stocked!

Now up and running with mine in the MDT Tac21 chassis and totally delighted with it.

Would that be at my soon to be new range DW58?
I like the spider web style stock

That would - was there on Sunday and yesterday afternoon - the new boomstick now has around 100 rounds through it.

DW58, the next time you strip it for cleaning any chance you could take a photo or two. I'm just curious to see how it strips down is all.

Blu - it's very simple to strip, there's a catch on the left hand side of the chassis which controls a rotating half-round pin, which when rotated through 180% allows the stock to be slid off backwards, the bolt is then removed in the normal manner for cleaning, it takes about ten seconds.
