Please recommend me a red dot

As title really, I need a red dot for an AR-type rifle, wanted something good quality, preferably with a changeable reticle for flexibility...

Budget is what it needs to be really... But I'd like vfm!

4 reticle patterns, 11 levels of brightness, EOTech styling and you can get one from the US for ~$80. If you want to get one over here i think only UKMCPro does them and they're about £120 but they frequently have 10-20% sales on

I used mine on my 9mm, .223 and 12 bore and it worked great, only changed it for an EOTech as i managed to get one at a 'reasonable' price

+1 , you can pick up affordable older second hand EOTECH if you are patient.

If you need it now for little money, Primary arms RD do the job perfectly well. A friend has been using a Walther Reflex on a 22lr for ages and is fully satisfied with it.

It has only one reticule, a simple red dot, so I do not know if it is a deal breaker for you but I find the Vortex Sparc very very nice for the money. I have not bashed mine around yet but "feel" well made. You can dim it for a very small point and on brighter lvls it does not "bleed" like most budget ones. It comes with all sort of mount that get you to AR co-witness.
A FB member sells them for less than GBP 150.

Eotech scored do badly compared to it's peers in some reviews, I'd love to know why they still get raved about when there are much better like the MSE. On paper anyways.

I have had a few red dots over the years, most have fallen apart especially on the shotgun.
I have had one of these for several years and its excellent.

Its currently on my 41mag Marlin for plate shooting but does well out to 200 yards plus with full loads.
Designed for 3 gun comps and suited for the battering of a full race pistol.
The 2 moa was a feature for use with AR platform out to 300 yards.
Only available in the US AFAIK but they take paypal and mine was delivered to a hotel over there.

Have a few different Aimpoints - mainly bought on'tea'bay in the USA & shipped over

Go for a small MOA size

Some of the discontinued models are cost effective buys.
The Comp ML2 x2 is very good for such an older Aimpoint.

IF you want new, source from Sweden or mainland Europe; UK imported are a rip off

Without saying they are the best (I have not got the experience ) I guess cos they'r very comfortable for short distances, built like a tank and can take AA batteries you can find very easily the world over and the fact that issued to the US army they are proven battle worthy in difficult environment ?? On a more pragmatic side I can not find second-end Aimpoint for the price of a eotech 552.

Stop eating all that runny cheese and your eye sight may get back to a level at which you can focus on the screen and do some shopping

Had no major trouble finding Aimpoints - ALL at substantially lower prices than any of the used Eotech units I've seen
