They've done just about everything wrong as regards "improving" it. Not much of a cheek weld either, more of a chin weld. :lol:

Nobody is arguing with the authority of the actual round but was the ultra high mount a good idea and what of the bits of picatinny rail added to the stock. Personally I would have though that it shoould have been left as original.

The picatinny rail is on the scope mounting bracket.It hasn't had a picatinny rail bodged to the stock, what it does have is a purpose made side rail fitted that allows the fitment of standard Russian optics such as a PSO-1 etc.The rail was developed by the Russian military for the Mosin to allow the PSO-1's predecessor to be fitted and copied commercial versions are widely available.The one in the pic may well have one of the original siderails fitted, just with the modern scope mount.The high cheek/chin weld is due to the combined height of the scope bracket plus the scope rings.........but that said a high cheek/chin weld is common with a lot of Soviet/Russian optics on AK's and the Dragunov.

Commercial universal mount to fit Russian side rails, also produced by Zenit in Russia and widely copied.These allow most scopes to mount on just anything from an AKM to an RPG-7.

I must admit the idea of a PSO-1 on a Mosin is very tempting but I think I still prefer aesthetically, the more "classic" look ... It also seems the Soviet army and then Russian stayed faithful to the PU mount.

I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end!, very likely it still goes bang ever time and would seriously mess your day up.Have seen these with a Kord hmg scope fitted and used as an anti-sniper rifle, you don't need to see the sniper you just punch a hole in the wall where you think he is.

I bet, there's probably not a lot in it to go wrong and it will have been built like a tank. There's a vid on Youtube of a guy shooting one and the muzzle blast and flash is rather impressive.
