Wouldn't it be simpler and cheaper to use an RFD in the UK who is already importing from the US?
SYSS is one. They tend to import several at a time to minimize the fees per gun.

Even better would be finding an easy route for importing into the UK...Mike357 wrote:Is there any way that those that are, or have exported items to the UK could perhaps consolidate this into a simple process using just one point of contact in the US so that FBUKers have a route to do this themselves if they wish??????
Er, not sure on that...I have a lot of time for Roger at SYSS, but by the time an RFD has spent many hours on paperwork & quite a few quid on fees and product outlay, then shipping & import fees, they want to see a good return for their efforts/outlay.mag41uk wrote:Wouldn't it be simpler and cheaper to use an RFD in the UK who is already importing from the US?

A smaller, neutral RFD that acts as a point of delivery - yes; one that is a key player for brands X, Y & Z - no.

You need to shop around. Below is cut n paste for me bringing in a .308 bolt action.Mattnall wrote:You need to find an exporter, they should be able to tell you a ball-park figure based on previous shipments, especially if you add in the document and other fees.
I have found it can vary a huge amount the most expensive was just over $1000 for a single rifle (included a charge of a % of the sale value of the rifle)

Shipping would depend upon destination. Stansted is the most cost
effective at this point in time, with rates around $125 for a rifle.
In addition to shipping, there will be a US State Department fee ($250),
and our export rate, at $200.

Not my choice in this instance, I'm just receiving, all I did was the paperwork this end to get the export licence their end (EUA, letter of intent, etc).TJC wrote:

At the end of the day the rifle is unseen its not going to be cheap to get it here I would have to get a slot for it. On the other hand I have a slot for a .222 its on my wish list my friendly dealer has a cracking example for a good price so I am going to buy the .222. but thanks for every ones input much appreciated.
