VZ58 MARS - Variation hold up

#1 Post by phaedra1106 »

Just had the call (I was expecting it) from Durham, can't process the request for the MARS system as it doesn't exist. They will keep the request on hold until they hear back from ACPO and the Home Office.

I've asked them to return my Fac meanwhile as I need it to get a Sec.1 shotgun.

Surely with the National Database etc if one County has issued FAC with authorisation to acquire then it must be on there somewhere :cool2: :cool2:

Good luck

Now you're just being sensible kukkuk

Of course the real issue is that Durham insist on an action type being specified when it isn't required in the first place. This of course generates more work for them and more sh@te for the rest of us.

Next week my variation will have been in for the obligatory 28 days so i'll be ringing them incessantly after that O:-)

It really is pathetic, not only are they generating extra work for themselves which they don't need to by law by insisting an action type is specified, they're acting contrary to the Guidance for licensing. :bad:

Even if they do still insist on the action type being specified, all they have to do is ring CCA and get a copy of Scotts paperwork saying its S1 and/or ring one of the 4 other constabularies that have already authorised them. I've provided Durham with direct numbers for all concerned, amazingly, they haven't got back to me yet tesnews Now i know how people in Northumbria felt until they turned themselves around 2010ish :cool2:

I know this won't make you feel any better, but my recent variation was with Police Scotland in Aberdeen for 28 days before it was even looked at, and between their receipt and me receiving my varied certificate 41 days elapsed, this included 14 days from my variation being cleared by the FLO to its issue.

This was blamed upon the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow!

From what I have seen from Durham over the past months from both customers and fellow club members who have the misfortune to be in Durham I suspect that there is more to this than just incompetence.

It looks very like there is a political agenda here driving deliberate awkwardness from firearms licensing to try and hack people of with the aim of reducing the number of FAC holders in Durham.

They are a national disgrace of a firearms service and have been so for years.

How could you get Durham kicked into shape? I guess the local MP's are mostly Labour and therefore likely uninterested (mines Yvette Cooper and utterly utterly an anti)?

Has anyone put in an official complaint to the Cheif Constable or say the PCC for Durham? Had an offical response?

Perhaps if you can get documented cases of inaction (such as no response to your recorded delivery letters) or waffle responses back - could force the issue?

I'm curious to know what if anything has / does work? as occasionally West Yorks can be awkward - and well, forewarned is forearmed and all that.

If Durham are introducing administrative delays, whether by accident or design, that would be newsworthy...

Gaz, pre-Atherton/Horden shootings variations very pretty quick, usually in a week or less on a good day.
Since then they've asked for extra medical forms with every application and renewal, this was supposedly kicked into touch by BASC but they are still "requesting" them. The turnaround time for variations is currently at least 28 days and for a renewal it's 120 days.

PM sent with more info.
