I've been hearing that low mill ranges will be making a lever release ar-15 at some point !
I do like the vz 58 esp with the morden upgrade

I'm still struggling to see how conversion of standard AR-15 lowers isn't possible. Damn, they'd make a FORTUNE.

It probably is possible from a technical point of view but I dare say the the Home Office would take a dim view of it, which is why the upper and lowers are built so as not to be compatible with a standard AR.

Also, incompatibility (i.e. non standard uppers and lowers) allows SGC justify the price, IMO.

But why? If this is legal then so should a conversion be.

How about instead of asking us (forum members), you ask SGC and/or the Home Office and get a definitive answer?

You can then post the answer and we'd all be wiser as to the facts of the matter.

SGC won't answer it. I may yet ask the Home Office though.

You are spot on. None of the locating pins and coresponding holes on the SGC lever release uppers and lowers align with the ones on standard AR15 upper and lowers. This prevents, what is in effect, a semi auto upper being mated with a lower which will enable true semi auto functionality.

The fire control group pins and holes in the SGC lever release lower are also non standard to prevent the insertion of a standard ar trigger group which, again, would enable semi auto functionality. As much as I don't like Bob he has built in a number of safeguards to ensure his lever release ARs could not be considered readily convertible to section five.

If you take a straight pull AR and attempt to build in lever release functionality how could you ensure it would not be readily convertible to section five, given the locating pins and holes would all be of a standard AR configuration? Weld the upper and lower together possibly? Not sure how else you could come close to delivering the safeguards Bob has built in to his version.

Fair enough. Good explanation.

Can't see a problem converting your existing ar however as pointed out any mod done must make your newly converted lever release lowers and uppers not compatable with standard ar lowers and uppers ! Which takes away the point in having a ar ?
