Martini prices

Hi, all.

Just out of interest, I've had a quick look online at Martini-Henry prices, and they all seem to be between £600 and £1,000+.

Is that really the prices for Martinis now?

I know, the prices seem to have jumped rapidly over the last few years, in 2009 i picked up a uncleaned Mk IV for £350 at Birmingham arms fair. Once i took the grease off it looked fantastic. But it seems the best of the Nepalese cache have been snapped up. Many offered for sale now have serious damage to the wood. There was also a fire at a storage site in the USA where some of the Nepalese rifles were stored which destroyed a lot of woodwork.
There are a few bargains around still, back in February i purchased a excellent condition 1879 dated MK III with marking to the East Yorkshire regiment and with Afghanistan war provenance for £300
This would be my 12th Martini. i REALLY like them.

I regularly shoot alongside two other Martini collectors at my club and my collection is the SMALLEST

That's quite a collection there.

Hmm, possible something to same up for, then.

I quite fancy a .303" Martini as well. Wonder if they're around.

There are a few Martini Enfields about - there's an artillery carbine on gunstar at the moment I believe.
