Tikka 595 and Sako 595 Action interchangeability
Does anyone know if the Tikka 595 and Sako 595 Actions interchangeable footprint wise?
Re: Tikka 595 and Sako 595 Action interchangeability
I see in some American websites they refer to Tikka rifles as Sako rifles. Is it possibly one and the same?
I can't say that I have ever heard of Sako 595 vactions otherwise.

Re: Tikka 595 and Sako 595 Action interchangeability
Tikka subsequently bought over by Sako (Baretta group), but not at the time of the excellent Tikka M65 (565), 595s etc. Release of the cost-cutting T3 pretty much hailed the new direction Tikka took under Sako ownership. The older Tikkas are very highly regarded and sought after by stalkers. The wooden stocks aren't always the most attractive but they are beautifully put together, practically hand made and with fully adjustable triggers.
I still can't understand folks paying out for T3s when there are so many practically new and unused Tikka M65, M55, etc languishing on dealers racks.

Well I am certainly on the look out for a Tikka M595 Action if anyone knows of one.
Re: Tikka 595 and Sako 595 Action interchangeability
I have a 595 and it's probably the rifle that I have owned the longest and will probably be the last one that I would ever get rid of. I have previously owned a M65 in .308 and that's another rifle that I should have kept but rather foolishly sold many years ago. If anything the M65 is an even better rifle than the 595 is.

Alternataly call Borders Barrells. I believe they keep a stock of actions from shot out rifles they buy in. It saves them searching when a customer prefers a specific action.
I'll ask around the deer stalking circles for you.
The one that i have always lusted after and wish to have in my collection is the Tikka M995 TRG-S. It's still available in limited numbers and big calibres - 338 lapua mag & 30-378 weatherby mag, but it was offered at more sane calibres at one time. I missed out on an immaculate 25-06 by 5mins because the bloody wife wouldn't get off the phone! :(
