Just seemed a bit odd, I've never seen anything like that in UK civilian shooting before. Looks cool though.

It is cool, great fun, and its been going on for years.

Blimey you have a very different set of rules at Bisley compared to our local club. I was taught a safety isn't to be relied upon. I'm sure it's safe enough, but it's a different culture.

They are a second line to proper weapon handling (yes weapon, its CSR after all) and muzzle awareness.

There is no reason whatsoever why, where necessary, you should not be able to move in the ready where appropriate.

John, thanks mate, I had to stop that half way through. I am afraid that my days of even thinking about CSR are gone, I could not get into the sitting position or do anything at any pace, I would probably never be able to get up again. Having just missed the LRC because my back packed up its all a bit gutting.

Watching the boys run down took me back to the days of being 18 and doing it with L1s and sleeping in bloody tents at Bisley...and the bloke coming round with the mossie machine and smoking us out!!

Then there was the silly bugger that just had to fire the cannon every year...is it still about?

I have to be honest, my lack of interest in black rifles is self enforced, if I could...I would in a flash.

Mind you, I have never seen anyone run like that....the music was a bit at odds...the telly tubbies theme perhaps?

I own a No4 (but really do like the sound of the Valkerie rifles).

I can kneel and probably shoot sitting with the right kind of rifle.

Could I amble 100yds and still hit anything....? not at the moment but it could be done....

Just got out of the bath and buggered back again....Arrrggggggg.

Its a lot more appealing than F/TR though if I am honest, particularly when its raining!!

You may not catch me doing that, but out of interest, which is (in your opinion) "the" CSR club mate?

Would there be opportunities to try it without entering a comp (or parts of it). It occurred to me that I might be able to hire the NRA ARs for a try out.

I managed to get through the video this time. Sadly (or rightly) I just get very deep when I think about my old mates and the folks out on Herrik etc. Seems to get worse as I get older

I always enjoyed multi positional when hunting/in the mob etc, and it would be great to shoot without a pickfords van to carry all the crap about in, no plotting, no dialling, just honest shooting, so you certainly have my interest.

I have even promised myself a new rifle if I get hooked and can loose 2 stone....and walk in a straight line tesnews

.223 brass....probably scrounge that from work once fired.

My question though is this mate.

What are stock distances/target/position combinations John (I ask so that I can potentially get some practice in, even if it is against representative targets at shorter ranges).

You didn't used to shoot Practical Pistol then..

Typical stage start was one up the spout, safety on and holstered, at the beep draw, safety off and blaze away, safety back on then move, shoot and repeat until last target engaged.

Always engage safety before moving, always keep muzzle pointing downrange even when moving across, or even up, the range... and always carry more ammo than you need... :lol:

Fantastic fun, but you (understandably) had to pass a safety course before you could shoot...
