Is not 41 mag banned in a few states? Power of a 44 with penetration of a 357,I hear law enforcement hate it....
When someone says "it's not about the money" you know what? it probably is all about money!

I thought it was originally conceived as a law enforcement calibre?

The appeal of the .44 AMP is the ability to use a .308 bolt face rifle and even cut back and ream .308 brass to suit. I was mostly curious to see if anyone over here shoots one in a shortish barreled rifle and if so how did it perform and was it fed from a magazine.

It was designed to replicate the 41 Magnum police loads, but its basically obsolete now.

It'll be a good choice for the Ishy if you could get magazines to fit and feed.

SG, that is exactly what I was thinking, with a 14-15" barrel and 205 grain bullets. Magazine wise it might be possible to modify a magazine shell to suit so it looks vaguely original, only problem is the long bolt stroke.

Just musing away whilst sitting down with a coffee.

Only downside is I am yet to find a reasonable source for such barrels here in the UK.

I wouldn't worry about the long bolt stroke and maybe use a 44 Mag Desert Eagle magazine. fingerscrossed

can't you modify the stroke with a "stop" ? or is recocking the action an issue?

Cocking is not an issue and I could probably do something to reduce the stroke, sourcing a .44 Mag magazine would be interesting over here, the usual suspects have nothing listed.

John, sourcing such barrels over here is never easy and I am yet to find someone who holds things on the shelf which means importing.
