Pics of the new K31. Took ages to remove the Waffenfett, which had stained the metal parts. There was not a speck of rust or corrosion anywhere on the rifle. If you consider it had been re-furbished in 1957 and stored, (probably). That is a fantastic endorsement for the "Swiss way" :goodjob:
Finished product.....brilliant. Treated the wood with the customary cleaning mixture (turps, linseed, vinegar and beeswax) and it turned out to enhance the woodwork considerably. tesnews
I am well pleased with the finished article. clapclap
There are a few dings and scratches, which I will leave or probably draw out later. Overall for 345 GBP, I am very happy :flag5:

Re: K31 proven loads
Very nice indeed ! Ours is rather battered, which we feels adds character, but it shoots very well. How much does a typical paw load for these cost ? GPS 11 is currently about £65 / 100

Re: K31 proven loads
if you discount the brass (which you buy and shoot so why count it in?) around 50p although cost isn't the biggest issue for me, as GP11 is a longish drive away and the cost soars due to fuel etcmeles meles wrote:Very nice indeed ! Re: K31 proven loads
How does accuracy compare with GP11 ? We've found GP11 to be one of the most accurate rounds we've ever shot....

Re: K31 proven loads
to be honest, I have no idea, I suspect if you work at it ,it will be as good, but I doubt better, for me its availability more than anything else. I will at some point try lead boolits and see how they work out.meles meles wrote:How does accuracy compare with GP11 ? We've found GP11 to be one of the most accurate rounds we've ever shot....

Looks great - as I posted earlier I bought one yesterday in similar condition. Mine is a 1950 build, when was yours built?k31 wrote:Pics of the new K31. Re: K31 proven loads
I guessed it was fairly early because of the walnut stock which looks quite nicely figured for a K31 - mine look to be beechwood and as straight as Kiera Knightly's hips.
Do you plan on putting a scope on yours? I'm thinking of getting on of the various clamp-on mounts .

Re: K31 proven loads
Yes, I am going to scope it. Clamping is the only way to go for me. I don't want to drill and tap. Keeping it original.
I'll have to smash up a piggy bank or two. sign01 Firstly, off to get some rounds made and tested on the chrono. :flag5:
