When I spoke to Amanda at Riflecraft she did say they were looking at free shipping in and out via an RFD with pre-paid labels or similar so I would say hold on for a bit and find out what is happening. Also it would be a good idea to see if you can get your rifle put into the schedule so it is away from you for the least possible time and finally I am being told that some RFD's are charging for the administration of this recall so you may see a GBP50+ charge for 'Admin/Paperwork' My views on this are already well documented....

A 7 lb trigger, are they serious? wtfwtf I wouldn't accept a trigger that heavy on what is supposed to be a precision rifle. If that's what they are offering, they can keep it!.
That'd have been an improvement on my first Rem 700!!

Bought a PSS model in .223 a long time ago, with the original Walker designed trigger.
The factory setting was so high I kept looking to check that I'd taken the safety off - it had left the factory with a pull of 9lb-10lb!!
Such settings were to avoid potential litigation that a "hair trigger" had caused a rifle to go off too soon - as a batch of such court cases was doing the rounds at the time in the USA.

The "problem" with the original Walker trigger was a similar set of law suits, brought due to some Bubba that had fiddled with the trigger so much as to make it liable to go off on the bolt being closed.
The X Mark PRO was the "answer"!
Proof it it were ever needed that Big Green is now run by accountants & bean counters, and the engineers are overlooked as merely troublesome umpa-lumpas; and that the idiots at the top came up with an answer for a question they never understood...

The original Walker trigger on my PSS took me at most 15 minutes to adjust, then check to ensure it was safe. Been at approx 2.5lb for about 15 years and never been a problem...works very very well.
The XMP even before the "problem" was a POS, nowhere near as good a trigger as the Walker - just a typical solution to a non-problem dreamed up by the sort of folk that would be stuck for an answer if you said "Good Morning" to them.

I'd love to get an old Walker & drop it into my SPS Varmint so I could just bin the XMP in it.

THE RECALL
Yes, ALL the costs are being met by Remington in the USA.
BUT
I suggested to Riflecraft that, irrespective of that side of the equation, the owners of affected 700's just pop the two pins out, mail the trigger back & have a new trigger sent out.
Add up the back-forth TNT shipping & it'll be less expensive for Remington to supply all the affected 700 owners with Timney/Jewel/Rifle Basix or such after-market third party triggers...THAT would also be a better PR exercise, rather than the FUBAR situation as at present

WALKER TRIGGER
Anyone have one sitting in a drawer...good home available for one?!?!?!

Saddler - re : trigger removal & swap
I had the same conversation with SMK ..
Which they agreed would be the best plan, but apparently Riflecraft wernt so happy with this,
Aybe due to them being able to make a few quid ?!? Who knows

This seems to explain what the issue is - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa0cNr2_fSE
I know I wont be going out shooting at 10F (-12C) so I am not going to worry too much about it for now.

Had the instruction to have my RFD contact Riflecraft a couple of weeks back...since then, nothing.

Anyone actually have their gun uplifted for the repair job yet?

Last time I spoke to the workshop (about 2 wks ago) they said around 4wks to get triggers in stock.
For some reason Riflecraft are just swapping trigger units out.

Swapped mine out for a Timney. Only took 15 mins and its a much better trigger tan the original.

Which original - the original Walker design, or the new improved original XM Pro POS that has caused the recall?

My Walker triggers are black (ribbed face)
The XM Pro I've seen are silver (smooth face)

If you have a spare Walker let me know
