Just got some Peltor comtac 1 ear defenders with dual inputs. Ie you can have two radios or a phone and radio or what ever really. I have another pair of active peltors but these are MUCH better. It really is like having normal sound when you are wearing them. Not normal volume thought a soggy pillow. Excellent kit.
A good toy, though not a cheap one. Hopefully they will pay for themselves in length of service. Mind I love shooting but have no desire togo deaf so PPE in that sense is worth every penny.

Re: Comtac ear defenders
They have a good reputation and are used by some of the 'professional' types of shooters. We use MSR Sordin's which are a workable alternative but with only one input. Nice ont he firing point as you can wind the volume up hear all sorts of things.
I assume you are still going to use your in-ears for stalking?

Re: Comtac ear defenders
I tend not to use defenders for stalking, I use a mod on the Sako, however I have those groovy electronic things that sit round the back of your ear from the states. They are ace for out and about and stalking and pheasants and stuff as you don't look like your wearing defenders. Tweeds with ear defenders does not look right.
Just got to make up a lead now for he comtacts to connect to xtni's Should be easy enough. Especially if I enable VOX as this does away with having a button, though I dunno what the implications of this is for bangs? Though VOX I have used before is good it has a very slight delay when I guess it realises you are talking. So that should take care of the bangs?

Re: Comtac ear defenders
Some of our teams get these at work and I can see the need for the radio input,
But it does scare me that civilian shooters could be listening to the Music radio or MP3 players whilst shooting.
As you say, nice but expensive toys, Do they sit well when the rifle / Shotgun is mounted?

VOX is handy as it means you can talk directly to the firing point. I am sure Peltor will have taken VOX into account with the circuitryWesty wrote:Just got to make up a lead now for he comtacts to connect to xtni's Should be easy enough.
