Lee Enfield Parade Rifle

I'm currently looking for an SMLE or a No. 5 (at the right price smile2 ) and I stumbled across an SMLE Parade rifle. Unusual looking thing, black stock (Possibly lacquered?) with chromed fittings on it

Can't say I've ever seen something like this before and I was wondering if anyone else had seen one, and if possible knows the story behind it? I've searched all manner of pages to try and find some information on it, more so to define if it's legitimate or not to be honest, but found nothing so far

Is that still a S1 or has it been deactivated?

I've never heard of anything like that being used by the British Army (or RN/RM/RAF), but not at all unusual with the Americans. I've seen both M1903 Springfields and M1 Garands with chromed metalwork and very glossy stocks.

Puzzling.

Oddly I recently saw a chap with a No.4 Enfield with much/most of the metalwork brightly polished rather than blacked/painted, I thought that was unusual.

After a bit more scouring I've seen a few posts on forums that suggest similar, although they generally said it was gold plating over silver. Still not managed to find anything else that looks identical to this though, so wondering if it is a tarted up job

Funny enough my grandfather mentioned a Lee Enfield parade rifle a few weeks ago he said he used one during his national service and was used in parades, funerals, services and so on. Although thats all I know :)
