I can sympathise with anyone wanting an AR in its original calibre---even straight pull versions at a pinch. Not my sort of rifle, but I can sympathise. When it comes to .22 rimfire versions however, I am puzzled:
They look like the real thing.
They feel a bit like the real thing.
They weigh about the same as the real thing.
They don't work like the real thing.
To enjoy them, you have to pretend that they are the real thing.
Conclusion: buying one of these is exactly the same as buying an inflateable woman.
I like the real thing.

The Raven, Spike's tactical and many other .22 AR-15's are virtually indistinguishable from the real thing, unless you look at the bolt/diameter of the barrel or some of the mags. The S&W 15-22 works exactly the same as it's non select fire full bore cousin in terms of BHOA. I consider them real.

Each to their but I wouldn't want to be hit by a shot from any of them whether you think it's "real" or not.

Absolutely!

Mind you if I could have and original AR configured as it was intended then I would. Classic firearm in its original configuration, AK as well, SLR, M1's etc. I used to love my semi autos when we could have them.

They look like the real thing.... feel a bit like the real thing... weigh about the same as the real thing. ...They don't work like the real thing. I like the real thing.

I have a Semi-Auto SDI 5.56 and for England a CMMG 22Lr .
They both actually feel the same, weight the same, function the same, strip the same etc... etc... I have not done it but I believe they are so much the same that I can put my SDI upper on my CMMG lower and vice-versa.

Conclusion: buying one of these is exactly the same as buying an inflateable woman.

I see your point, but I'd say it's more like parking identical twins, the one with the bigger boobs wriggling a tad more during the action ;)

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
