Re: Remington 700 recall
That is of course just the one man's opinion. Like me he isn't a lawyer. We'll just have to wait and see. If Remington does actually recall and fix every rifle, their gunsmiths will have a job for life!
Mine works perfectly well, and I have got my rifle nicely set up and sighted-in. Since most recalls of firearms call for you to dismount any sights and other attachments/accessories before you return them for service, I am disinclined to go through that process again. If I were really worried about it, which on reflection (and now that I know what the recall is all about) I am not, I would simply replace the trigger with a Timney or something similar rather than return it for service.

Re: Remington 700 recall
Update for Remington owners just got of the phone with SMK who are now Remingtons UK importers, if the trigger has vertical lines on it then it's not effected by the recall if smooth then it is. SMK waiting for Remington to get back to them later today but it looks like rifles will be collected (her words not mine) and taken to a Gunsmith for repair. They are waiting to see who has to pay..... Lady will let me know as soon as they know and I will pass on via here.

Re: Remington 700 recall
Sounds like they only gave you part of the story bnz41, the full story regarding recognition and whether your rifle has already been modified or not is here http://blogs.militarytimes.com/gearscou ... epeat=w3tc
You would have thought that they should have been one of the first to know of the problem wouldn't you, rather than having to be contacted by shooters who have picked up the information from the web first.

Re: Remington 700 recall
Riflecraft later added the following after being questioned on their credentials-
Remington is part of the Freedom Group of companies that is made up Remington, Remington Law enforcement, Advanced Armaments Corps, Bushmaster, DPMS, Barnes bullets, Marlin and Dakota Arms
Freedom Group have two distributors in the UK.
SMK are responsible for importing all sporting rifles and distributing them to RFD's from Remington Sporting, Marlin and H&N.
Riflecraft are responsible for all other areas such as all Remington Law Enforcement and Military products including 870 shotguns and Rem 700 rifles used by the UK Police, Armorer ISO qualification and training for these units, Bushmaster and DPMS Ar-15's, Advanced Armament Suppressors etc
There are 3 countries that have Remington warranty and training centers outside the US. Australia, Saudi Arabia and the UK.
These centers are responsible for all warranties involving not only Remington but Bushmaster, DPMS and Marlin no matter it being considered sporting or otherwise.
Riflecraft have been the official Remington/ Freedom group warranty armorers in the UK for in excess of 8 years.
Any work done on new rifles or warranties in the UK through SMK or any government agency comes to Riflecraft.
Please regard our post about the recall and warranty work as coming directly from Remington.

Remington are sending out new triggers for exchange,
but,
Triggers are on back order from USA ....
SMK will take delivery in 3-4 weeks..
riflecraft can carry out the work, along with any other approved gunsmith ( only if approved by SMK)
Riflecraft have 300+ rifles on waiting list for work to be carried out on.. & the list is getting longer !

Re: Remington 700 recall
I spoke to Riflecraft yesterday, they have not received the replacement triggers so are advising owners not to ship their rifles to them yet, looking for between 2-3 weeks for triggers to arrive. If you want a after market trigger fitting, the cost to the owner they can do that straight away £125-170 or if not wait for a free Remington one.
Re: Remington 700 recall
Any idea how much a Shilen Remington 700 trigger would cost in the UK? I have Shilens in my three 700's and they are really smooth and adjustable and a snap to fit. Over here they go for $59.95 each, can't be that much more in the UK surely.
