I think that's just a shroud and I'm not even sure it's included in the price. Here it looks much the same as the Low Mills one:

The real difference as far as I have been able to figure out so far is that these are probably the ones made in Germany by GSG. That's the people that made the MP5 and AK47 clones that don't have a great reputation.

Indeed it does. But then again at half the price it is a tempting buy.
Go nuts and get a Spikes Tactical .22 Ar15 and be done with it. :-)

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
Re: LBR/LBP
The Tunnel version does look more appealing! The Low Mill one also has a faux moderator as an extra. The Low Mill also has a mag capacity of 15 rounds......
But that said, I like the fact that the Tunnel version offers "real" 1911 accessories.....
And at half the price!

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

A friend of mine has a Spike's tactical and it's great but there's no way I'd spend that kind of money on one. I'm not saying they're not worth it as such. They're just not worth it to me. I don't think they're four times as good as my 10 22 but that's what they cost.
I await Heather's opinion with baited breath. If they work well and don't feel like they're made by Mattel I'll most likely put a variation in. I just hope they come in colours other than pink.

Made by GSG is a plus as far as I'm concerned! The GSG 1911 is getting rave reviews in the US at the minute and as for them not having a great reputation, I disagree. They had some trouble from H&K who managed to win a court case against ertain infringements and I know that several small us police departments have adopted them for training purposes, ie cheap ammo to suppliment MP5 training.
A lot of guys in the UK went out and bought them as they were really the first "military replica" since the nasty Jagers of the 70's and 80's. Then, those that bought them wanted them to do something that they were not designed for, namely run on sub and standard ammo.
This is then coupled with a plethora of other "military relicas" along the AR line. Blokes are part ex'ing them and gun dealers shelves are either becoming full of them or not taking them. This has added to the myth.
I've got one. I bought one of the very first. At the outset I chose three high velocity ammos to test and run it in. Settled on Remington Viper. It's probably had over 5000 rounds through it and the stoppages I can count on one hand and I believe all ammo related. It will rip the 9 ring out of a PL12 target at 25 yds and one Saturday morning I tore through 500 rounds without a stoppage, a clean or much time in between strings! It's brilliant! And, I've spent far too much money on it "fantasy customising" it!!!! But I'm also getting a hankering for a M4 clone..........
BTW, at this years Shot Show, GSG unveiled their new models......... WWII MP40 and MP44!!!

It's interesting to hear a different point of view, SimG. I did hear that the later MP5s were not as good as the first ones but again this is just unsubstantiated rumour that I've picked up down the range. And we say that women can gossip.

Re: LBR/LBP
Nah, women gossip, men bullsh1t!
The only difference really between the new and old versions revolve around cosmetics and the moving of locking pin appatures so that "gucci" airsoft MP5 parts cannot be fitted. This was all about H&K coming out with their own versions made by Umarex........ obviously after GSG spent all the money on advertising and having excitement around the idea generated!
H&K didn't give a rat's ass when GSG were making dedicated airsoft in exact copies, including markings, of H&K's guns. Likewse, H&K previously banged on about how unfair law suits like the one they took out against GSG were, when they were taken to court by Colt when H&K came out with their versions of an AR..........

Re: LBR/LBP
I'm with Sim on the GSG-5, i bought the original version and i've never had any problems with it at all and i run mine on Standard Velocity ammo (CCI and Remington). Most of the 'bad press' is from those who either don't like 'black' guns or those who have the post law-suit version!
As for the 1911, when they were first advertised they had a sticker price of £1200, and that was the main reason i was put off, but since then i've heard people saying they £650ish . . . could be tempted
I seriously doubt you'd get one with what appears to be a Docter micro red-dot on the back sight for that price though

The link on the information page that I reposted earlier today shows you what you get. Just plain iron sights.
I can feel a variation going in sometime soon. :-)

Re: LBR/LBP
Chris stripped one down like the pro he is when we ordered them so I presume that means it's exactly like the original with nothing getting in the way. Yes, they do come in other colours as Chris's is titanium. Gosh, I am soooooo looking forward to getting itptheta wrote:
