Double the number of shooters please! Let's just hope they all don't just sit at the range whinging that nobody listens while they actively discourage anything that might help, even if it takes 20 seconds of their time.

I don't read my own signature!

Er ... OK....

There is a shooting competition at Bisley in about 3 weeks time. Its run by the Army Target Shooting Club. It will include ISSF pistol shooting - Air Pistol and Black Powder. LBR and LBP shooting and GRCF and GRSB shooting. The latter essentially pistol shooting by proxy as they will be running the Police Pistol and Service B type of pistol shooting we all used to do in the 1980s and 90s. Additionally The 1500 for all gun types will be offered. All this fully classified and registered with the appropriate governing bodies - so your scores count. Its about as pukka as you can get.

Is this the type of stuff you will be encouraging and campaigning for?

But it never will be, will it? GR will never be "pistol shooting". The Phoenix will never be Pistol AD and never again will we have a "World Shoot X" under current legislation.

But it's not about the "guns" for you, is it Neil? You've already stated here that it's purely about the shooting. You don't want to be associated with gun owners and their campaigns just in case the authorities take an even dimmer view of all aspects of firearms ownership and use.

Come your "action weekends" how many middle aged men in too tight a "team shirt" will be swilling the lager lamenting the loss of pistols and those heady days pre 1997? From what I've seen of your "merry band of shooters", an awful lot of them....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Personally I think this petition is a good thing but I don't think it's proactive enough. Way I see it, as well as this petition start bombarding your MP's with emails and letters and do it every day until they start taking notice. Hey not just your MP's either do the same to Cameron and his Cabinet as well, want to get noticed and taken notice of? Then you have to be a pain in their ass, show them that this time you aren't going away. The more people who do it, the better.

Very true, but it's a start. Yes, getting more people shooting is important but if we don't make our voice heard then we're fighting with one arm behind our backs.

Sandgroper, well from what I'm reading here and if I've read it correctly, if enough signatures are collected then it has to be debated in Parliament. Okay so they debate it, then what?

Like I say mate start being a pain to them and keep being a pain until they take notice and listen. They need to be reminded that they work for you and not you for them.

Yes, you're right Blu, just getting them to debate it is not the answer. Pressure needs to be applied to get the debate to go in our favour - now is the the time with an election due next year.

Why do you feel the need to take a positive and inspirational event such as the above and generate a negative post out of it, we are not in competition with the NRA, or anyone for that matter.

Given we are a body of unpaid volunteers operating around the country, our goal posts are somewhat different to what a confederation of financed organisations might aim for.

That's probably correct

No.

Well - none - that's the point. None of these guys are crying into their beer - they crack on with the shooting.

So - I guess the answer to my question is no then.

Sigh... OK - lets all keep clicking... :-(
