There is a substantial cost saving if you already own a compatible AR lower. ..in the region of 5-600 quid...may be more. So its worth talking it though with your FEO...unless you have loads a cash of course..In Surrey I applied for a Barrel and Action.

If you have a slot for a rifle then you would have to buy a complete rifle..surely? It wouldn't allow you to acquire it in stages?

He reckoned rifle covered all the components of a single rifle, assembled, complete or not.
Would be down to your local force though as the guidance isn't specific

How long do slots remain open once granted? How long do you have to buy?

Technically to your renewal date but my FEO reckons a year, not sure how they'd check though without manually checking each FAC.

Thanks, that's good news. Can't afford it right now but may go for a 7.62x54 thingy at some point this year.

Checked this with Kent yesterday, (it is in the new guidance notes) If you dispose of a sect 1 firearm there is no longer a time limit to apply for your 1 for 1 (other than the life of your cert).
This saves time if you have disposed of a few in a short period of time like me, save them all up and the ticket is only away once. :goodjob:
What is a Sapper? This versatile genius condenses the whole system of military engineering and all that is useful and practical. He is a man of all work of the Army and the public ready to do anything or go anywhere, in short, he is a Sapper.
