Variation vagaries

So I went to the Shooting Show a week or so ago and the nice people at Caledonian Classic Arms trapped me and my flexible friend with the K22 lbp. On returning home I duely dispatched my cert to Winchester for a variation for the lbp, thought I'd add some solid slug and an MLR with 3 spare cylinders just for good measure. Popped it in the post and sat back for the now customary 10+ week wait.

Imagine my surprise when it dropped on the door mat this morning, a less than 10 day turn around, too good to believe I thought, I was right!

So they gave me the solid slug and two spare .357 cylinders but no MLR or lbp???

No explanation? I'll be contacting my FEO on Monday but I suspect I'll be forking out another £26 to sort this out!

It must be an oversight to give you the cylinders but no MLR. I have a variation in for one myself, hopefully I don't have the same problem.

If it's their mistake, then they should rectify it for free, do you photocopy your forms before you send them off? Avon & Somerset tried this with me once saying I screwed up the paperwork and didn't apply for it, that is until I informed them that I keep a hard a digital copy of my FAC+SGC+every form that I send in to them. They soon changed their tone and changed it for free.

If you're definite it's their mistake and you wrote it in, then just blag it

Recently helped Scott put a number of his excellent K22 LB pistols through their paces, they performed flawlessly, impressed.

Apparently they have a steel frame coated with Polymer.

On my last variation with Avon & Somerset I ended up returning my license 3 times, partly due to them not really understanding how to do a mirrored license as the wife was applying for her Fac at the time, 1st time as they granted me my 9mm and .223 but forgot to add any ammo for them that I had asked for, 2nd time was to add a .22 and sec1 shotgun that would be for the wife to use but they wouldn't add it originally as they hadn't processed her application and 3rd time was because when they processed the wife's certificate they realised they had missed off a .22 on mine, I was going to send it back a 4th time as they never increased my ammo allocations that was requested due to the wife shooting but I just lost faith with them, I will get those changed at a later date, the most annoying thing was each time I sent in a covering letter to explain what was required and obviously they never bothered to read it.

I always keep hard copies of everything I send, DVLA are especially bad for dropping driving authorities off licences when you send in for change of addresses/renewals.


It's amazing that they gave you 2 extra cylinders without question but no gun to use them in, just shows how poor the controls are in that department and if I was the chief constable I wouldn't be happy that licenses were being sent out on their behalf with mistakes on like that, maybe you should try sticking a sec5 pistol on your next application

Finally got mine on Thursday after a 5 month wait, much better than my TSC 1911 (gsg), however I'm not happy as the wife beat me in a shoot off knocking bowling pins down yesterday.

:lol: Don't worry about it mate you're not alone. The Annie Oakley I'm married to has a habit of knocking down more bowling pins than me when we go out back to shoot, She's absolutely unbearable if she happens to knock down two with one shot tongueout
