It's worth noting that Hydrographics got started in 'dipping' by buying the gear off another guy who couldn't get to grips with the process. It looks frighteningly easy but takes a lot of practice.

Morning gents

Just to add to Vince's comments, we have a chap at work who wanted to dip parts for his car, got the gear , built the tank, and commenced endless practicing until he got the hang of it, we all had some very decorative had hats from his early attempts. He eventually got the hang of it and did his car, but as with many things happily admits it would have been much easier to have paid to have it done, though much less satisfying.

I'm presuming hydro-dipping wouldn't be suitable for barrels or other parts that are subject to extreme heat? I really want to get my competition PSG shotgun painted but the last quote i got for Ceracoat was £400 :o

There are a lot of painted barrels out there, especially shotguns. So long as the base coat and clear coat can handle the temps you should be fine.
I read somewhere that most films can tolerate very high temps as they're, in effect, protected by the base and clear, almost acting more like a pigment.

Admittedly that was for a 5 'colour' (black, white and 3 shades of grey) digital camo pattern but i still thought it was a bit much

Im picking up my compressor next week to give this a try, more of a 'hobby' to keep me occupied than any thoughts of a business venture.
Ive got plans for my gun stocks, bits for my van/ discovery, odds and sods for the kids etc.

yes I could pay to get it done, but sod it, i like to fiddle with stuff!
