Yeah I agree if you have the technology then use it. Don't know about the the US Army but the Marines still expect their soldiers to be able to hit a target at 500 yards with open sights and expects them to qualify twice a year I believe it is. At the same time they have no problem using technology either. Of course there's no substitute for extensive training and ability, but for a few grand you can up a mediocre shooters ability quickly.
There's a load more to it I know, reliability, quality of the product etc etc - but it strikes me as a worthwhile investment to see if we can make any use of it.
