Afternoon all,
I have a .22lr Heckler and Koch semi auto "insert kit" coming for my SP L1A1 (hopefully) in the next couple of months.
Question is, on the new variation form, what do I ask for, do I just say .22lr Semi auto and explain further in a covering letter.
I have always included a covering letter with Variations in the past, it does seem to expedite things.
Anyone else had any experiences with adding these HK kits (or any other semiauto .22 insert) to their FAC ??
Cheers, John.

Re: Firearms variation form question.
Put it down as .22 conversion kit/unit, to be used in 7.62mm SP rifle, serial no. ####, or something similar

If there is any doubt in your mind, give your local firearms dept a call and get their take on it.
It could save you a lot of angst in the long run.

Re: Firearms variation form question.
Our Ciener kit was listed as a 'conversion unit' .22lr
Is it the unused one that you're getting? I've seen pictures, very nice.
Beware though, I believe that they were known for occasionally getting stuck in the barrel!

The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.
Re: Firearms variation form question.
Evening Charlotte,
Well, I ended up stating .22lr adaptor kit and attaching a long supporting letter explaining that I collect, study and shoot classic military firearms. I pointed out that the L12A1 adapter kit was rare, completes my L1A1 package and is highly collectible and absolutely fitted in with the-----"collect, study and shoot classic military firearms"---- ethos
That's the stance I took, I think its perfectly reasonable.... and importantly "shows good reason"..... We will see if they agree!
The one I have my beady eye on is complete, in the box and mint.......I don't want to driving it out of the bore with a mallet though!!
I believe most of those issues occurred when kits were left in barrels for extended periods during service.
