Full bore ranges near Sheffield

#1 Post by meles meles »

Any of you clever oomans know of any full bore ranges and clubs around Sheffield? There used to be a range at Totley on the edge of Sheffield but that closed a few years ago.

An hour by hopplicopter perhaps ! We'd be interested in Diggle for occasional long range stuff but were hoping for something a little closer.

Rossendale is 1 hr 30, Strensall is 1 hr 20.
It's an odd area for ranges, pretty much everything is at least an hour away.

Huddersfield RC has a 6? point electronic range somewhere on the East side of the Pennines I believe.

There's one near Bury too, still not close at all.
I'm only up the road in Barnsley and I can't get over how bad it is for full-bore around here, especially given the space!
I was actually considering buying a quarry in Penistone but it was only just big enough for 100mard shooting.
Diggle is about the closest for me, though the £150 a year subs are a bit steep as a secondary club. £15 a day is OK I suppose for the occasional visit.
You're not in Sheffield are you?

Which range are you referring too that is "Near Bury" if you don't mind me asking?

Diggle, Rossendale & Bolton I'm aware of, the only other I can think of would be Holcombe but don't think we civvies can get in?!

No problem, it's Pinner Quarry near Crawshawbooth, my club has a monthly visit there.

We're not in Sheffield at the moment, but we might be in the future. Especially if the culls continue...
