Only a couple of reasons (unless you own a boomstick with a permanently fixed bayonet) why I think you would need to take your bayonets out.
1. For a dedicated bayonet-fixed rifle shoot, in which case I'd keep it tucked away until I needed it on the firing point then tuck it away again for the journey home.
2. All law and order breaks down .. at which point such comments from your FLO mean very little.
IF I lived north of the wall and IF I owned a boomstick with a permanently fixed bayonet I think I'd probably just continue shooting it as I do now. From what I understand, the issue has yet to be tested in court but I reckon a good solicitor would be able to demonstrate the necessary 'good reason' for the pointy thing being attached (albeit folded) to my rifle. I'm not talking about easily detachable bayonets such as the Enfield No 4 pig-sticker but specifically the Mosin M44.
Just my opinion for what it's worth.
