Information needed for the Schmidt Rubin type of rifle

Hi all. Does anyone shoot the Swiss Schmidt Rubin straight pull type of rifle. I am thinking of shooting military rifle at Diggle this year and just want some info on this type of rifle. Any good points to look for, any problems with this type of rifle? I believe that the calibre is 7.5mm but what exactly is the case and does it come in other calibres? Any technical info on handloading (bullet availability, powder type, primers etc etc).

I have a K11 carbine. Two club mates have K11 carbine and K31.
They all shoot much better than you would imagine for a service rifle.
They use 0.308 bullets and I use 155gn scenars. I can generally keep on target at 900 and mainly in the black at 600.
Have had reasonable results at 1000yds too.
Only available in 7.5 x 55 but some were rebarreled in 308.
Barrels are made by Hammerli and I dont know of any issues with the rifle itself.
Mines had 2000 rounds thru` it with out issue.
I use Lee collet dies for case prep,nice and easy.
Get one,you wont regret it.

Yep do a search it has been well covered.

When I used to shoot military comps with the SRs at Diggle I preferred the 1911s or 96/11s as the longer sight radius helped me at the longer ranges.

My K31 with a clamp on scope mount and Nikon 3x-9x scope is a wonderful long range shooter. I shoot USGI pulled 173gr FMJBT bullets with IMR 4320 powder and get nice solid shooting to 400 yds (that is as far as my range goes to). I imagine it would do quite nicely to double that distance.

I think the K11 has a smoother action but the K31 has been a tighter shooter for me.

I prefer the 96/11 infantry rifle myself, for anything Swiss go here...
