Sgc 9 mm Almost made it no3 in blown up unicorns

Thought I'd share a potential disaster that almost occurred today, I spent the morning zeroing/plinking with my sgc 9mm lever release (glock version).
I was using 115grn mag tec factory ammo no issues cycled fine. I was asked by an experienced and long serving member of our club if another shooter could try my rifle. As I like to encourage any new club member I said yeah no problems il take them on the point coach them and safety supervisor. He also added there is some 9mm in my bag use that. I said no probs. I loaded 10 rounds, the first four cycled fine the next round fired ejected and loaded the next round I said stop it just didn't sound right. I removed the mag an ejected the live round to find the bullet pushed down the case, I then cleared the rile and checked down the barrel(no daylight) the previous round must have had very little or no powder had sent the bullet just up the barrel the pressure had ejected the spent round. Lever then pressed collected the next round and then as there was already bullet there the new round had struck the base of the other bullet and pushed it back into the case. I suspect this excess pressure caused by a deeply seated round and a blocked barrel could potentially cause the same sort of failure seen already in this type of rifle.

To be fair he was embarresed but I am to blame aswell as I should have questioned more about the ammo. I do reload but I double check all batches after with the small digitals to check for any major discrepancies.

I often think about problems like this when I hear about new reloaders jumping in with both feet and wanting to use progressive presses. It's just so easy to pull the lever and churn out ammo only to find the powder hopper is empty or bridged over.

I'm not saying that's the case here but in a gallery competition when you are trying to get them off fast you'd have to be quick to twig there was a problem before you let the next one go.

I'm not saying that's the case here but in a gallery competition when you are trying to get them off fast you'd have to be quick to twig there was a problem before you let the next one go.

My thoughts exactly, I always load in stages and check the powder level in each case afterwards as I have had a bullet stuck in the barrel, as you say in a comp when shooting 2 in 3 seconds you would have to be pretty quick to spot it.

Tend to agree with your comments.
Surely the best thing to do if someone wants to try your rifle is to stick with the ammo you have bought/reloaded for it. What if the gun had been damaged or the person was injured while trying it? Who would be responsible, the owner or the person who supplied the ammo?

Excuse me. The person who reloaded the 9mm has probably been doing it since before i was born and im 33, this is not an attack sgc thread or newbie reloader cocks it up this is for informnation purposes so people are aware what can happen. Forums are for helpfull advice So unless you have something usefull to add JOG ON.

I read your first post as if the new member had reloaded them - my mistake...

However, even if the old member has been reloading for 30+ years, it still shows you can't automatically trust someone else's reloads. Like another poster had said, what if the rifle had failed as a result?
