If you want to see a beautiful bit of engineering have a look at this thread on Pigeon Watch, the guy has hand built both the boat and the gun, it's a long thread but well worth a read, the attention to detail for something "built in a shed" is incredible

phaedra1106 many thanks for posting the link to the PW thread, I had not seen it before so thoroughly enjoyed the read. I nearly got my hands on a punt gun many years ago, it was propped up outside a junk/antique shop just outside Matlock many years ago, it would have fitted in the car however the now ex was not impressed with the idea. It was a muzzle loader and was up for GBP70.00
