Powder - compromise or separate
I am looked to start full bore reloading, I've heard people talk of 'compromise' powders that can do everything. Is this the way to go or should I have separate powders for each calibre? I'm looking to reload .223Rem (M4 Carbine), .303British (Metford, No4), .308Win (Incl 7.62Nato brass) (Rem700, SLR), 7.62R (Nagant), 7.5 Swiss (K31) and 8mm Mauser (K98). The sort of shooting that I do is mainly ETR and Full-bore Gallery ranges, generally 300-600yds but pushing the 308 to 999yds (yes with factory 308) . I'm sure youre gonna get lots of answers to this but for me vit n140 is a good one for 308 and 303. The reloading data is a free download on the vit website if you want to have a look.
Good powder and a reasonable price especially if you buy it in the 3.5 kg pots

I use it as my powder of choice for 223, 308, 8mm Mauser and a lot of people swear by it for 303 and 7.5 Swiss. Its an excellent consistent powder at a good price. TR-140 is supposed to be very similar to Vhit 140 and a bit cheaper atm, Varget can be hard to get hold of and works out pricey when you are stuffing iro 45+ grains in a case (approx 155 rounds per lb)

As suggested above, Vihtavuori N140, cheap (£55 to £65/Kg) and works very nicely indeed
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

TR140 all the time. It's the only powder that I use. It's exceptional in both .308win and .303. It's also the most cost effective powder on the market.

In the 7.5 x 55 I prefer N150 but 140 should be OK.
If I was reloading all those I would buy 3.5kg of 140 and 150.
It would keep you going for a few years and be an investment!
I see HPS have upped the 3.5kg Viht price from £185 to £215.
