Finally getting somewhere with FAC application
After much to and fro (stroke in May ... Doc submitting med report in September based on Med condition in June .. Police asking me to surrender my sgc ((I declined)). Docs visit, new request for fresh report from doc ... Doc losing the form ..)
I have just spoken to the doctors sec who is typing up the following from the doc
"Mr Xxxx had a stroke in May due to hereditary high blood pressure, this is now controlled by medication, he has been left with a lack of temperature sensation on his left side, this in no way affects his ability to use or own firearms" ... Or words of that gist ...
Progress !! Hoo bloody ray !!!

Re: Finally getting somewhere with FAC application
Excellent stuff
We've just finished completing my sons SGC & FAC applications, it's taken 3 years to get to this stage due to a doctors letter that was what I can only describe as complete and utter b@ll@cks!. He said things that were not true and mis-quoted other medical reports, he even ended his letter by saying that in his opinion (which he isn't supposed to give) my son shouldn't be allowed to shoot!.
It took a formal complaint to the NHS trust to get any help from social services and 2 more years to finally get a consultant psychiatrists assessment.
The draft assessment contained lots of errors which they have not corrected in the final version but have added my responses into the report so while it's not perfect it's certainly a lot better than the previous doctors letter. I emailed the firearms manager this morning to let her know what was happening and she's going to make sure the email is attached to his file so they can give his application a fair assessment, he passed the FEO interview with flying colours in 2010, it was only the doctors letter which buggered his application up.
His medical condition is Aspergers Syndrome, a mild form of Autism. The new report states he has no aggressive of violent tendencies and shows he's a quiet, well mannered and polite young man who while having some social interaction problems has made great progress and interacts well with others.

That's daft, and worse. My son has Aspergers, and I can't see any reason why it would prevent him from shooting. He's more likely to pay attention to detail than some of the twerps I've encountered shooting.phaedra1106 wrote:Excellent stuff![]()

Which is exactly what I've been saying for the last 3 years!. Everything is now in place, his referees have the forms ready to return and I'll put his applications in tomorrow along with a copy of the report.shugie wrote:That's daft, and worse. Well it's in, dropped it off about an hour ago, now just have to wait and see.
Wonder if they'll complain about me not filling in the extra medical form they're asking for and paying for my sons GP to say there's nothing he can tell them?.
