Reading the story it sounds like an illegally held firearm.

"The weapon - and other legally held firearms at the property - were handed over to officers, a force spokeswoman said."

Yup I misread, was confused by "An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and drug offences." followed by "The weapon - and other legally held firearms at the property - were handed over to officers, a force spokeswoman said."

As the report is not specific (at this time) the firearms in question could be air rifles/pistols.

Possibly, but I'm still thinking air rifles/pistols.
