Best Rear Bag for F/TR
I have an old rear bag that is a bit wobbly and saggy. It’s done me well for a few years when I shoot on the standard NRA target face however I’ve made the change to shoot on the F Class target and this has exposed some weaknesses in my technique. One thing that I think is an issue are my wobbly and saggy bits.
I currently use this:

I like the idea of this:

The new one is nearly £200! Is it worth it?
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Isn't it Brian Fox who sells something similar?
I seem to remember we bought one from him...

The Caldwell bag is built back to front - Cordura where it should be leather and leather where it should be Cordura - otherwise, not a bad bag for FTR.Quarters wrote:I have an old rear bag that is a bit wobbly and saggy. If you move to one of the Edgewood bags - which are superb for F Class Open or benchrest - where you are using a joystick front rest - they are 'the best'. But, with a fixed FTR bi-pod, a squashy back bag is much easier to manipulate to get back on aim. You will be constantly sliding and shuffling a stiff bag like the Edgewood trying to get back on target.
The ex FTR World Champion (he finished runner-up this year) uses a 'bean bag' - so do I.
If you're anywhere near Diggle, I'll be happy to loan you an Edgewood or bean bag to compare.

Get it from the States.
Shooting off rests and bags is endemic and the country is festooned with the things. It just seems that very few people (on utube anyway) are even capable of firing a rifle either offhand or 'off the elbows' anymore. There are exceptions of course i.e. Hickock45
Translate this to a tactical situation where you have to engage verbally with your opponent and ask him to refrain from shooting until you get your bags and rest all set up
Yet these people will tell you that they are 'good shots' !
Sorry buddy, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

Thanks for all your helpful replies. Thanks Gun Pimp for your offer. I shoot at Bisley so I can't take you up. I'll try a bean bag first and see if that's better.
Thanks again everybody

Are you at Bisley this weekend? I could take a bag or two.

Thanks Gun Pimp. I'm getting married on Saturday so I'm guessing she won't let me out to play!
