I've never sold a gun before and have no real idea as to the process or paperwork involved. I'd be very grateful if anybody could tell me what the correct legal process is. Also, where is the best place to sell it? I was thinking on this site and on Gun Trader.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: How do I sell a gun?
As a private seller, you must:
Complete the transaction in person.
Ensure that the buyer has legal authority to possess the firearm.
Comply with any conditions imposed by that authority.
Usually, that means checking their FAC to confirm that they hold an unused authority to purchase or acquire a firearm with a description matching the one you are selling, enetering the details of the firearm you sell in table 1 of their FAC, and informing the police that you have done so in accordance with the instructions at the top of table 1.
Also, you need a receipt for the gun so that when the police ask you where it is, you can provide written evidence of its disposal.

Then apply for a free one for one variation of your firearms certificate so that you don't loose the space on your certificate by leaving it too long.
Notifying your constabulary of the transfer/sale can now be done by email but always ask for a receipt of the notification.

Also check any entries in table 1 against permission to acquire to see that the "slot" hasn't been filled already.
